The umbrella organization of various Filipino regional and community associations in the province, PHCM held its March meeting at the soon-to-open branch of Kapampangan resto Kabalen in the North End, while the meeting the following month took place on the 22nd at the PCCM multipurpose hall.
In line with PHCM’s 20th founding anniversary this year, a special live reading of ‘Florante at Laura’ will be staged at the PCCM on June 10th. The epic poem penned by Filipino patriot and poet Francisco Baltazar is hailed as a Philippine literary classic.
The production is directed by Ronald Mervin Sison and will also feature famed Filipino dance troupe, Magdaragat Philippines. Sison appears in the promotional video below.
“Many hands make light work,” remarked PHCM President Perla Javate at the April meeting. She echoed John Heywood’s famous quote in acknowledgment of the well-attended gathering where event partners and representatives of various member-associations were in attendance.
